With my config and script, conserver will automatically attach to your blade's serial consoles: http://blog.nachotech.com/?p=5 I've been using this with my blades for a while, and it really works well. That's roughly what I ended up doing. I created a separate user, console, for conserver to connect to and created RSA and DSA identities. I found the mkvt is actually an alias which isn't available when you ssh in to run a command so my final exec command line looks like this: console lpar1 { type exec; exec ssh -i /root/.ssh/console_dsa -l console -t lpar ioscli mkvt -id 2; } The -t is there to force allocating a tty which is needed by the mkvt command. We don't have a lot of need for security for this server (obvious Linux best practices excepted, of course) , as it is going to be installed deep in the bowels of a data center. I thought conserver might just allow anyone to force a user off, but I learned yesterday that it does allow anyone to take over a session, putting the previously active user in 'spy' mode, so I can see why conserver would not allow booting off a user by default. Other than taking up the max number of connections, there would be no need... I couldn't tell if the error was coming from conserver (console), or some other component of linux. ( For example, I was getting a strange IsMe() kind of error that I don't think came directly from conserver, as the solution was to add a line with the hostname in it to /etc/hosts. ) I did try reading the manual and searching online (rather unproductively, as isme and conserver are both common terms), so I appreciate the timely nudge in the right direction. :) Have a great day! --J. -----Original Message----- From: users-bounces@conserver.com [mailto:users-bounces@conserver.com] On Behalf Of Bryan Stansell Sent: Wednesday, September 10, 2008 5:17 PM To: users@conserver.com Subject: Re: unauthorized command This is probably because you're not listed as an 'admin' user. Sorry if this is a bit of an obvious question but I could not find it in the man page. How do you set the data bits on a conserver console.
